Make the Most of This Time

As the days get cooler and the nights get longer (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), we are entering a time when taking good care of ourselves is vital. This is a great time to boost your immune system and care for your body – setting yourself up for health through the holidays and into winter. And this is an excellent time to nourish your inner self as well.

Far too often, people find themselves feeling sick, depressed, heavy, or exhausted come January. While winter is meant to be a time of rest, rejuvenation, and stillness – you do not have to suffer through those months. How you care for yourself in the fall has a big impact on how you approach and experience winter. With intention, you can use the gifts and goodness of fall to sustain you through the depths of those winter months.

Fall is a pretty magical season. It is colorful, cozy, and filled with opportunities for creativity and connection. This season invites you home to yourself and the things you hold dear (family, friends, interests, passions, etc.). It’s a time to be thoughtful and take good care of yourself. To wrap yourself in a blanket with a great book and a hot mug of tea. To take a walk in the crisp air and enjoy the beauty of the colorful tress. Or to share a delightful and nourishing meal with people you love. Whatever feels good to you and feeds your soul. This is definitely a soulful season, so drink it in and make the most of what it has to offer you.

Fall is also a season of slowing down, letting go, and turning inwards.

It is a time for self-refection, listening to your intuition, and attending to your emotional and spiritual life. This is a great time of year for clarity and a-ha’s. And for planting inner seeds that will blossom by the spring. Your inner voice is strong right now, your intuitive guidance spot on. So take the time to listen. Give yourself the space to receive. Tap into your creative flow and inspiration. Let this season warm you from the inside.

And as we approach what can often feel like a frantic holiday season, consider how you might support, nourish, and care for yourself. What are the things that make you feel good? Relaxed? Fortified? Content? When you can identify what supports and sustains you, you can build them into the structure of your fall and winter season. Being proactive feels much better than trying to pick up the pieces later.

This year, instead of getting caught up in the stress, hustle, and bustle that you see around you – make a different choice. Choose to sink into the magical and heart-warming nature of fall.
